Cowboys and Kings
While feeling the love of an Englishman
who is tender and gentle and mild,
I feel a sorrow for English girls
who must need something wild.
I will not live upon a moor
or in a London square;
I will not live beside the shore
in salty, loveless air.
I don't know if I'll like the heat
of a cowboy's open range;
but wild Western men would laugh
at your tame English grange.
I know that you are good at heart
and I am good there too;
but knowing I deserve the best,
I won't settle for you.
