Present Company Excluded
In lamplight dim
the shadows grow of prospects grim with heart in tow. On tree-lined street, in slumber deep, lost love I meet in dreams I'll keep. Awake in bed on pillow lies this laden head with tired eyes-- Each morn' I greet, I greet and mourn; Earth and my feet: a bond I've torn. Just 'round each bend my future lies; no hand to lend to hault demise. For ones I love, it's much too late: no sky above, no soul to mate. © 2013 Nicholas Emeigh |
