Love As Such
The water was too warm to wash my hands with
Isn't that a blessing in disguise? Too often overlooked by those with means But not by those on streets with pleading eyes A cold and hungry mother turns and cries If we'd only stop and take a second To realize humanity is gone And reestablish love for one another Bring about the warmth of a new dawn and join the people of this earth we're on Too many of us here to e'er be lonely Too many are in need, some have too much Let's redistribute love and wealth will follow If you have two, lend someone else a crutch To lift a life with care is love as such © 2013 Nicholas Emeigh |

Notes: This poem was written on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, and is about taking things for granted when so many are in need. I was washing my hands and felt angry that the water was too hot. I then thought about the people who would kill for hot water. It's a luxury that some can't afford. Then I thought of what the world would be like if we cared about each other enough to make sure people in need were provided for with our excess. If those in need had even half of the excess of the upper and middle class, everyone would have what they needed. We need to redistribute LOVE.
