Unearthly
Wave your arm and soften steel
puddles form where fingers touch Walking backward, toe to heel Leaning on a beer-stained crutch Though I’ve had some bad ideas Though sometimes I say too much I can say you look at me as something here for you to touch Edges blur and lights look fun and now I’m laying in your bed If I had legs, I’d surely run, but blood is rushing to my head Then waves appear to carry me And all my cares go up in smoke I turn and tell you, let me be But in your arms is where I woke Once again the waves appear and lap against electric light Sparks are coming far too near Too close, too hot, unearthly bright © 2013 Nicholas Emeigh |
