A Funeral For Me and You
If you join the loved ones I’ve painfully lost
I’d forefit my mind and all reason’s cost And send invitations engraved and embossed To a funeral for me and you I’d select the flowers in sad shades and hues Coordinate wardrobes in fabrics of blues Sell off all the objects I never would lose For a funeral for me and you If you set your sail for a realm yet unknown I will not sit back and live this life alone I will not be present to wail and to moan At a funeral for me and you It may be true that all life has its time at which it must end with no reason or rhyme If life’s worth a nickel, I’ll throw out a dime For a funeral for me and you Men, they may talk and spread rumors in town He sees to it his wife will show up in a gown But we have the best view from here looking down On a funeral for me and you © 2013 Nicholas Emeigh |
