Return To Light From Darkness
The hands of time once strangled me
Until my flesh went blue like death, And now those hands have set me free. Grateful am I for this first breath. My eyes refocus, clear as day, I see the things I love the most In such a different kind of way. Alive, and haunting was my ghost. The man I am has always been, but shadowed by impending doom. I've shed the darkness and the sin to take a step out of my tomb. The light is bright and beautiful, I feel like I have been reborn. This day has gifts for dutiful refugees of shame and scorn. So live your life as if it's new, It isn't clouded like it's been, It's fresh and clean - a brand new view, So walk with pride and lift your chin. You have a choice in how you live: It's what you have, not what you lack. The greatest gift you'll ever give Is showing life that you are back. © 2013 Nicholas Emeigh |
